Describing the desolation and sense of loss which can consequently arise from the alteration or degradation of natural landscapes, Solastalgia presents the works of four emerging female artists, examining the natural world unbowed by time or place. Diversified by their process and practice, these works by Jo Mellor, Katya Peteskaya, Carol Hudson and Eva Nolan, are united by their uniform direction to craftsmanship – delicate, sensitive and conscientious – which contribute towards a feminine aura and a nod to Mother Earth.
Solastalgia aims to transform the gallery into a space to both lament and meditate on the things that have gone, but also to contemplate what can be done to ensure a living future.
