The Burning World

Taking its title from JG Ballard’s apocalyptic text, ‘The Burning World’ presents photographic works from four leading Australian artists to draw upon colonial histories, fact and fiction, to consider natural landscapes as an amorphous political state. Hoda Afshar, Peta Clancy, Rosemary Laing and Michael Cook address ramifications of historical actions, calling to attention realities of our times, past and present, in tension with idyllic and iconic environments; challenging dominant narratives to focus attention on what has previously been overlooked, denied or concealed.
