Steve Gough: A View from the Bush, New Landscapes

This new series highlights the flora and fauna of the Top End bush in loving detail with seasonal light in Steve Gough’s distinctive, small, oil on board compositions. His bird studies are rendered true to scale, echoing the charm and exactitude of 19th century colour plates. While the artist takes inspiration for his subject from his home outside Darwin, he notes admiration for French Baroque painter Claude Lorrain, as well as Japanese art.
