Twenty of Australia’s most creative minds have come together to take part in Canon Australia’s G-Case Project, developing and designing a series of unique camera cases, inspired by the Canon PowerShot G1X. The diverse range of camera cases, made by a range of Australia’s most influential artists, designers, actors and directors, were showcased at the Chalk Horse Gallery in Surry Hills on Thursday May 31st.
Each participant was given a blank custom-made camera case and encouraged to ‘create a piece of art’, inspired by the creative capabilities of the camera. In return they were provided a PowerShot G1X and invited to document the creative process.
The result was a diverse range of works which transform the camera case from a practical component into an artwork itself.
Taking part in The G-Case Project is: Akira Isogawa, Romance Was Born, Jasper Knight, Sibella Court, We Are Handsome, Dan Single, Phibs, Danny Clayton, Mambo’s Brent Smith and Luke Okay, Daimon Downey, Jules Lund, Gracie Otto, Clive Dickerson, Julian Meagher, Gareth Moody, Corbin Harris, Jodhi Meares and Kris Moyes.
