The Mary Kunyi Legacy

Mary Kunyi’s (1925-2005) painting and drawing practice has been likened to abstract expressionism and artists such as Jackson Pollock. Kunyi made a significant contribution to Australian Indigenous art history and art making from the Daly River region. In honour of her legacy Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre with Merrepen Arts present this exhibition of major works by Kunyi alongside artworks by Nauiyu Daly River artists and members of her family whose creative output is influenced by her distinctive style.
