Perth-based artist Matthew Pope explores data collection through the archival, historical and narrative nature of the found object. Referencing Dada and Fluxus art, both advocating the art of experience and embodiment, Pope uses his own body through the act of walking in video and live performance alongside assemblage and installation to enhance or contrast meanings connected to these seemingly mundane materials. Pope invites the audience to view and explore these objects, to consider the new narratives that emerge through their appearance, alteration and presentation.
