Artspace has announced the appointment of Kathy Bail to the Artspace Board of Directors.
Newly appointed Artspace Executive Director, Alexie Glass-Kantor, says of Kathy’s appointment “We look forward to the wealth of experience she can bring to this appointment, especially with Artspace’s strong history of publishing. Kathy Bail is a leader in the arena of publishing. Her dynamism and breadth of experience will bring an added dimension to Artspace’s already strong track record for independent publishing. As we explore new opportunities and expanded approaches for communications, Kathy’s contribution will be invaluable.”
Kathy Bail is the chief executive of UNSW Press Ltd, a company owned by the University of New South Wales that publishes approximately 45 new titles a year, including scholarly books, general non-fiction and books published in partnership with cultural institutions and other organisations. UNSW Press manages the UNSW Bookshop on the Kensington campus and its NewSouth Books sales division represents more than 100 publishing imprints from Australia and overseas. From 2003 to 2006, she was a director of Melbourne University Publishing.
Kathy Bail has had extensive experience in print and online media management as a journalist at Fairfax, ACP and other independent publishing companies, editing magazines such as The Bulletin, The Australian Financial Review Magazine, HQ and Rolling Stone. Her book DIY Feminism was published by Allen & Unwin in 1996.
