2013 Mosman Art Prize finalists announced

The Mosman Art Gallery today announced its 116 finalists for the 2013 Mosman Art Prize exhibition. Boasting a total prize pool of $40,000, the prodigious award this year attracted some 710 entries. Judged by artist, Lucy Culliton, the major prize of $30,000 is an acquisitive award that contributes to the Mosman Art Collection and will be annouced at the exhibition opening on Friday night.

Additionally, an award of $3,000 (non-acquisitive) for the Allan Gamble Memorial Art Prize will go to the painting which best explores the theme of ‘the built environment’. There is also a Commendation Prize of $5,000 (non-acquisitive) sponsored by Henry Bucks of Mosman, and a Young Emerging Artists’ Award, sponsored by Fourth Village Providore, of $2,000 (non-acquisitive) for artists under 35 years.

This year’s finalists include Ken Done, Alan Jones, Jumaadi, Jasper Knight, Steve Lopes, Guy Maestri, Julian Meagher, Wendy Sharpe, and Alison Locke. The full list of selected entries can be seen here.

The exhibition opens to the public on Saturday 13 July at the Mosman Art Gallery and run until Sunday 25 August.
