Our cover artist for November is Juan Davila who will be participating with 300 other artists in the upcoming ‘Melbourne Now’ project at the National Gallery of Victoria.
Juan was born in Chile in 1946 and arrived in Australia in 1974, since then he has established a formidable career as a painter in this country and has produced provocative and important works which have a visual and ideological punch to them. His recent works shown at the ‘Sydney Contemporary Art Fair’ revealed a subtle and nuanced use of colour, though the themes remained as strong as ever.
