Italian-born, US-based Paola Pivi is known for playfully blurring lines between reality and fantasy, often incorporating animals and objects in surreal scenarios.
Together with works from across Pivi’s career, the exhibition features major new commissions, including three feathered polar bears, symbolising humanity’s connection to the natural world and polar bears’ vulnerability in the face of climate change; 1,000 suspended trays of colourful liquid, evoking entangled connections between sky, light, and the gallery building; and a giant inflatable comic cell, an homage to Pivi’s journey from chemical engineering student to artist.
