Red Green Blue: A History of Australian Video Art

Red Green Blue: A History of Australian Video Art
Griffith University Art Museum

Taking its name from the RGB colour model, ‘Red Green Blue’ examines video art and addresses the lack of accurate documentation of the medium in Australia since its emergence during the late 1960s and 70s. The publication, launched alongside an exhibition of the same name, traces the history of the art form through three thematic chapters in which curator Matthew Perkins details the digital world of activism, protest, gender identity, the body and performance, technology and the synthetic image. While Peter Kennedy, Bonita Ely, Soda_Jerk, Lyndal Jones, David Rosetzky, Michael Glasheen, and Michaela Gleave discuss the role video art has played in their works in terms of form, content and interaction with other disciplines.
