Shaelene Murray: A tracing of thread

A finalist in this year’s Wynne Prize, Murray’s work explores family histories, the make-believe, and notions of femininity. Using domestic objects of household appliances and tools, she reinterprets objects’ original meanings to present a new narrative.

This exhibition uses the stitching and threading of works by way of symbolising and exploring the notion of retracing histories; tracing a history and even mending those that are damaged or defining the direction of that which is yet to come in the future.
