Merrick Fry presents a series of works on paper that suggest a shift in control. Objects are imbued with agency; or at least an ability to evoke development and activity appearing to be on the move or about to move. The pears, for example, are almost bouncing like kittens under the amused eye of the Laotian Lion.
For Fry, these objects have life, and every composition is just a paused scene waiting for our attention to set in it in motion.
