Above the Canopy celebrates the rich and diverse beauty of the Australian environment, conveying the unimaginable grandeur of nature while exploring concerns for climate action and the need to preserve the planet for future generations. Through installation, photography, painting, animation, and textiles, the exhibition creates a theatrical, immersive, and regenerative experience: suspended silk veils overlayed with depictions of animals and trees; an idealised computer-generated forest with sound; a compost/composite of worm-bored Darwin literature; references to recent natural disasters; and a six-metre-long painting exploring sea life microcosms.
