Adrienne Gaha works in Australia and the United Kingdom. In this new series Gaha continues the ‘elemental tension’ she has a reputation for by playing with the changing state of paint from liquid to solid; solvents, rags and brushes in her arsenal. As well as the materiality of paint she traverses the boundaries between abstraction and figuration. While her compositions occupy a wholly non-objective space Gaha said, she has a “perverse” enjoyment of narrative and traditional painting practices.
