Canberra based artist Alexander Boynes is a creative thinker who views the world through a strong and defined social conscience, reflecting deeply on our country’s shared past. It is this outlook that informs his contemporary and unique art practice. ‘Last light’ reflects on the loss of the Australian landscape driven by the fossil fuel industry to extract what lies beneath it; ‘the merging of landscape and industry speaks of our failure to invest in a renewable future, as coal, oil and gas extraction dominate the power industry.’
‘Last light’ is a culmination of the various disciplines that make up his practice – painting, photography, print media, light-based work, and video installation and will present his dynamic works on aluminium.
