This exhibition, a homage to the Biedermeier style of German craftspeople and artisans who settled in South Australia in the early nineteenth century, presents new craft and design objects made by creatives Ashlee Hopkins, James Howe, Melvin Josy, Jordan Leeflang, Holly Phillipson, Hannah Vorrath-Pajak, and Duncan Young.
Throughout their research and making, each artist delved deep into this rich material history of place and design, with the resulting artworks created in response to its utilitarian simplicity and modest traditions, aesthetics, and motifs with a contemporary lens.
