BRISBANE ART DESIGN (BAD) | 150+ exhibitions, workshops, and more

An initiative of the Museum of Brisbane, BRISBANE ART DESIGN (BAD) draws attention to the diverse talents of local artists as creativity takes over the city’s streets, galleries, and unconventional sites with a program of 150-plus curated events: exhibitions, design-led talks, hands-on workshops, markets, and open studios from 10 to 28 May – presenting innovative art and design responding to this year’s theme ‘Culture. Community. Clay.’

Phillip Piperides and workshop colleagues prepare bronze castings at Perides Fine Art Foundry, in preparation and production of artist Hiromi Tango’s collaborative artwork Roots, 2020. Commissioned by the Brisbane City Council for the Platform Project Courtesy Museum of Brisbane, Queensland

Returning in 2023, The Finders Keepers x BAD Art & Design Pop-up Market is a one-day-only free art and design mini-market showcasing over twenty local makers at The Black Brisbane in Albion. Elsewhere in the city, the City Botanic Gardens are transformed into an outdoor gallery with ten large-scale installations, ranging from sculpture and projections to augmented reality and interactive creations responding to the theme ‘Tread Softly’.
