From 13 to 16 July, the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF) returns to the Far North Queensland, hosted by Cairns Convention Centre and multiple venues across the city, and shaped by this year’s Artistic Director Francoise Lane’s curatorial theme, ‘Weaving our Future: Claiming our Sovereignty’.
Program highlights include an exhibition of large-scale, hand-woven artefacts; a two-day symposium; fashion and music performances; art awards with a prize pool of $50,000; and more than 300 pieces of visual art showcasing 600 of Queensland’s most accomplished and collectable Indigenous artists in the CIAF Art Fair and Art Market.
Joining these festivities, a public program of cross-cultural sharing, masterclasses, children’s art, and craft hub make this an immersive stage to experience First Nation culture.
