In association with Papunya Tjupi Arts, Papunya, Northern Territory, Aboriginal & Pacific Art present the first solo exhibition of Papunya Tjupi artist Candy Nelson Nakamarra’s work. Nakamarra’s continuously evolving style of bold contrasting colours and layers of drips, drawing and outlines create sophisticated and sought-after contemporary works.
Ngaalymananyi means ‘breathing’ in the Luritja/Pintupi language of the Western Desert and references the resulting movement in the paintings and, more literally, the mythical water serpent that is blowing bubbles underneath the waterholes.
