Influences in Sydney-based painter Celia Gullett’s work include abstraction, colour field painting, and minimalism, as well as ancient Asian philosophies.
Works of Spirit into matter recognise that while there are paintings that tell stories, there are also paintings that ask to be inhabited – like a piece of music, they resist immediate explanation, unfolding instead through pause, repetition, and rhythm.
