Christian Lock’s work acknowledges its art historical roots in abstraction and the language of painting, whilst also looking forward by combining these classic elements with newer developments.
“In an attempt to extend the possibilities of abstract painting my work has incorporated a range of experimental materials and technologies. Digital scanning and printing, synthetic resins and holographic material, spray painting and laser cutting techniques, creating work that often blurs the distinction between image and object, painting and sculpture,” he says.
Lock’s latest series of work builds on this process of experimentation and sampling, to reveal an innovative hybrid style that incorporates both Modern and Postmodern elements.
