With more than 140 photographs produced between 1995 and 2022, selected and laid out in three large wall installations, Death Metal Summer is a highly energetic overview of Deanna and Ed Templeton’s overlapping visions of capturing street and skate culture.
Finding glimpses of themselves in the people and places they depict, their images oscillate between innocence and rebellion, succeeding and failing in the maelstrom of social and national ideals. This hard take on life in the ‘burbs is balanced with moments of tenderness and empathy, beauty and vulnerability.
