Curated by Contemporary Art Tasmania and Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG), ‘Dirty Paper’ is inspired by John Ruskin’s provocation that ‘all good drawing consists merely of dirtying the paper delicately.’ Matt Coyle, Joel Crosswell, Tom O’Hern and Lucienne Rickard have created new works indicative of their innovative approaches to drawing, which respond to works in the TMAG collection, from dioramas to moths, megafauna models and sculpted busts. Also included are drawings assembled by Andrew Harper from Tasmanian artists Rodney Febey and Andrew Clifford.
