Memory and time are porous; things slip through the cracks between the then and now. People, relationships, ideas, objects – each leave a space behind that we eventually grow around. Some spaces are gaping; others are almost unnoticeable.
Using textiles techniques and processes, Adelaide-based artist Donna Gordge prefers working with non-traditional materials. Exploring the complex relationship between longing, loss, and the continual evolution of our identities, the artist’s recent work has been a meditation on the way we change a little with every one of our losses.
