“For more than a decade I have been searching for affordable property to buy on an artists income” said Elvis Richardson, recalling how she began to contemplate that our desires are sold in a constructed manner counter to what life is like for many.
So, to hit refresh, she approaches the depiction of domestic spaces with average to poor quality reproductions instead of a wide-angle lens and mood lighting to emphasise that the story of the “ordinary, the elderly, the low income and the regional whole life-styles are now being re-packaged for investment consumption.” Presented as part of an ongoing project with funding from Australia Council.
