Unfolding in four thematic chapters – The Threshold, Heaven, Hell: A Realm of Judgement and Suffering, and The Void: Worlds in Limbo –, audiences are invited to explore the mysteries of death, memory, and what may lie beyond.
Inspired by the legacy of Annie May McClelland, the gallery’s benefactor, works in this exhibition span the early nineteenth century to the present. Annie May McClelland’s enduring curiosity and donated personal library filled with philosophical and spiritual texts on death, the afterlife, and the soul, became the foundation for this exhibition’s curatorial journey.
