eX de Medici’s long-term collaboration with CSIRO taxonomists and evolutionists Dr Marianne Horak and Ted Edwards has resulted in these imaginative illustrations encapsulating the study of Microlepidoptera (small moths), communicating the broader political shifts and environmental impacts found whilst researching these specimens. The exhibition also includes the artist’s signature portraits of guns, wrapped in fabric drawn from the clothing worn in historic paintings by significant figures. Terrifyingly beautiful, these images convey the ongoing ramifications of history and the devastating effects that power and greed continue to have on our planet.
