The works of Melbourne-based Georgia Banks revel in the slippery terrain between celebrity, artifice, and authenticity. Developed during the artist’s research residency at The Andy Warhol Museum, in dialogue with invited artists Kiron Robinson and Simon Zoric and selected works from the gallery’s collection, Banks extends Warhol’s fascination with fame, fandom, and the market into the hyper-mediated conditions of today.
Instead of resisting the mainstream, Banks mines it for meaning; revealed is how legacy, spectacle, and success have become interchangeable currencies in our image-saturated age.
