Deceptively simple, Hossein Valamanesh’s work is often made with elemental substances, natural materials and found objects such as maps, tree branches and leaves resonating with cultural and personal associations. Inspired by Persian poetry and Sufi philosophy, Valamanesh’s work opens up the play of the imagination, metaphysical questioning and quiet reflection.
Angela Valamanesh’s ceramic art is aesthetically minimal and cunningly simple, allowing audiences to interpret universal and ever-perplexing human, animal and organic forms. Valamanesh re-immerses us in the primeval rawness of form and function and the symbiosis between art and science. The exhibition will feature a collection of ceramics and works on paper, as well as the jointly conceived bronze sculpture Guardian.
