Imaginary Accord
Edited by Aileen Burns, Madeleine King and Johan Lundh
Institute of Modern Art (IMA), Brisbane
‘Imaginary Accord’ documents IMA’s 40th anniversary activities, a year-long project comprising an exhibition, a lecture series and symposium highlighting the importance of the role and value of the contemporary art institution. Implicit in its title, the publication suggests that the connection between each artwork, idea, and participant lies initially in the imagination of the curators and artists and finds new form in the minds of audiences.
Contributions by international artists, curators, art historians and gallery directors – including Vernon Ah Kee, Ann Stephen, Helen Hughes and Anne Barlow, to name a few.
