Handmark Gallery presents a series of new works by artist Jan Hogan. Using processes of drawing and printmaking, Hogan’s interests lie in the poetics of water and geology and how they attract attachment and influence a sense of place. Her current projects are based on the Derwent Estuary in nipaluna/Hobart, lutruwita/Tasmania. Hogan is learning to map herself within this geology. Her investigations shift between the multiple scales that influence a site, from handheld stones to the reef systems revealed and concealed by the moon’s tidal pull.
