Lea Kannar-Lichtenberger explores beauty and isolation, curiosity and consequence, through depictions of frozen utopias in the Antarctica archipelago. Using installation, photography, video, and sound, she exploits the juxtaposition between wanting to preserve an environmentally critical ecosystem and our desire to see and explore. Furthermore, Kannar-Lichtenberger delves into how remote landscapes are affected by not just our physical presence but also our presence from a distance; drawn to the beauty of blue glacial ice, we quickly encounter ugly truths, such as the remains of a penguin: a lump of plastic.
