A joint project with the Institute of Modern Art, Queensland, this marks the most comprehensive survey of Sydney-based artist Mitch Cairns to date.
Celebrating a twenty-year artistic career, works on show include concrete poetry, sculpture, and works on paper. Awarded the 2012 Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship and 2017 Archibald Prize, traced is Cairns’ evolving influences, including early student work and ongoing engagement with self-reflection, the poetics and banality of daily life, language, and text. It will run at Institute of Modern Art, Queensland, 10 October to 20 December 2026.
