Using text, video, performance and installation, emerging artist Jemima Campey illuminates the consumerist nature of wellness to highlight its impacts on young women.
“The choices and images put forth by the wellness industry, and the social media influencers that support it, more often than not reside within pre-existing ideals for young women to be productive, beautiful and skinny. This transforms the body from a vessel carrying one through life into a form that must be controlled and disciplined in order to achieve a sense of value within capitalism and the patriarchy.” – Jemima Campey.
