Jintulu: People of the Sun

This exhibition follows the long shadow cast by colonisation: a legacy of genocide, dispossession and racism etched into contemporary Australia; explored through ancient stories and newer experiences of control, displacement and appropriation – from South African artist Natalie Scholtz’s paintings exploring blackness in dialogue with works by Yamatji artist Irwin Lewis to Martu artist Curtis Taylor’s sound and light installation exposing the harsh reality of racism today and works by Noongar artist Valerie Takao and Canberra-based printmaker Alison Alder anchoring the exhibition to key moments in recent Australian history.
