In ‘Scent of a Breeze’, Kathy Liu presents fragments of her memories, impressions of people or sense of a place. Most of her memories are quite vague, resulting in dreamy and often misty outcomes that lead the viewer to the base impulse of the narratives. Liu’s stories and ideas are often suggestive, and interpretations can vary, opening to the different viewpoints of the audience. These stories can never really stop or end because, in each mind, a new story is being created.
‘When the wind rises, it carries the scent of the ocean from far away. Take a deep breath of the air after the rain and let the memories flow in. I feel as if there is something inside me that is blooming.’ – Kathy Liu
