For Khaled Sabsabi, it is in art that we find spaces for an aesthetic resistance against the way things are, a constant movement towards pushing limits and challenging perceptions of who and what we are. In questioning the Self and how we see and engage with the ideas of the “other” in this time and space, Sabsabi presents an immersive artwork utilising the evocative scents of coffee, which covers the gallery floor, amidst a series of portraits anonymised and veiled by adding a layer of coffee wash.
