Flourish showcases the work of four contemporary artists – Kate Beynon, Kate Rohde, Valerie Sparks and Vipoo Srivilasa – in an exhibition focusing on the interconnectedness of nature, storytelling and cultural themes.
Spanning a range of media including digital wallpaper installations, ceramics, watercolours, cast resin sculptures, animation, and soft fabric sculptures, this exhibition interweaves botanical and animal motifs with cultural concepts to investigate our multi-layered relationship with the natural world.

With various approaches by the artists, real and re-imagined, an immersive environment filled with luminosity and colour comes alive.
Beynon’s animated video Visions: Friendly Beasts, 2017, regenerates flowers, magical creatures and dancing spirits in interwoven botanical scenes, creating a connection with the natural world. Pushing the bounds between natural and artificial, Rohde transports audiences to a realm of elaborate forms of fantasy. Wallpaper installation Sanctuary Series 3, 2023, by Sparks, is a close inspection of native flowers blooming against dark and moody backgrounds – a juxtaposition forcing the intricate details of the flowers forward and capturing the audience’s attention. And Srivilasa transforms porcelain into playful imaginary creatures in his series H̄mī bupp̄hā Flower Bear, 2016–21, which imbues a sense of belonging as delicate details celebrate storytelling, cross-cultural themes and the natural world.
