As part of his Guildhouse Fellowship, transforming glass into a multitude of hues, Adelaide artist Liam Fleming presents new sculptural glass work alongside selected inspirational pieces from the Art Gallery of South Australia’s permanent collection.
Fleming’s playful sculptures transcend functionality to creatively demolish the artist’s own pre-existing ideas of perfection and regimes after years of production glassblowing. This new body of work is a result of Fleming’s recent exploration of sculptural glass, negotiating the traditions and territories of craft and art. Here, he draws upon modernist sensibilities of shape, colour, and line.
