An impressive six decades, and counting, of Michael Taylor’s expressionist painting and drawing is on view at the Canberra Museum and Gallery, curated by Deborah Clark.
Nature is the muse for Taylor whose bond with the environment began at a young age in habourside Sydney. His formative training at the National Art School exposed him to Ralph Balson and Frank Hindler, leaders in abstraction. Following a move to teach at the ANU School of Art, exploration and inspiration in communion with the landscapes of Bredbo, Michelago and Cooma took hold with engaging results.
