This exhibition showcases works by 41 finalists selected from a national field of over 3,000 entries; collectively they reflect the distinctive vision of Australia’s portrait photographers and the unique nature of each sitter. The viewer is drawn into their private worlds, seduced by a direct gaze, intimate surrounds and personal stories.
Subjects include Aboriginal community leaders, champion sportsmen, fruit bat lovers and kangaroo shooters, Muslim women, technology-distracted teens and Bob Hawke swapping a glass of beer for a strawberry milkshake.
