The NGV is launching virtual content weekly on ‘NGV Channel’ via their website inviting you to explore, watch, learn, read, listen and discover.

‘Marking Time: Indigenous Art from the NGV’ and ‘Japanese Modernism’ are just two of the recently released exhibition tours;

Watch a five-part guided video tour led by Senior Curator of Indigenous Art, Judith Ryan AM through ‘Marking Time: Indigenous Art from the NGV’. In this tour, audiences will get deep insight and understanding of the history of Indigenous art practice and the expansion of materials from rock faces and human bodies to bark and canvas. The NGV Collection exhibition features work by Iwaidja artist Paddy Compass Namadbara, contemporary Kamilaroi artist Reko Rennie and senior Warlpiri women of Lajamanu in the Northern Territory.

This video tour complements the ‘Marking Time’ 3D exhibition virtual tour, also found on the NGV Channel, offering visitors the opportunity to navigate the exhibition from home.

Tour ‘Japanese Modernism’. The exhibition, exclusive to the NGV, showcases more than 190 multi-disciplinary works created during the first half of the 20th century, featuring Asian Art Deco paintings, prints, design and fashion. The NGV Collection exhibition presents traditional Japanese motifs juxtaposed with modern designs, highlighting two rare large-scale works by women in early 20th century Japan as well as leading avant-garde designers and illustrators of the era.

The virtual tour offers an at-home experience of the exhibition space, allowing audiences to zoom in and out of works, watch exhibition videos and read in-depth artwork labels.
