‘Picture This’ considers our enduring interest in portraiture and the human form. While thematically diverse, each of the artists engage the human body as a core subject, focusing on how physical gesture can reflect social, political and aesthetic concerns.
Artists include: Vera Cooper, Ben McKeown, Archie Moore, Christopher Pease, Ryan Presley, Yhonnie Scarce, Christian Thompson, Naretha Williams, and Raymond Zada, work in various ways – from diaristic forms of autobiography, performance and documentary strategies, to using found and appropriated material that connects history to the present. The exhibition is presented in association with NAIDOC week.
