Public art initiative Project Five has returned with its fifth volume, presented by burgeoning creative precinct Darling Quarter and aMBUSH Gallery as an associated event of Art & About 2013. The initiative encompasses a program of free live art, music and family-friendly activities that are staged throughout a four week period.
Launching with the month long art exhibition, Project Five Volume Five is staged by aMBUSH Gallery in the public art space OPEN at Darling Quarter. The Project Five Volume Five exhibition will showcase sixteen large-scale works created by renowned Australian artists; Jodee Knowles, RONE, NUMSKULL and ADNATE. From Friday 27 September 6-9pm, and from 12-3pm on the weekend, these young contemporary artists will transform Darling Quarter’s Village Green into an open-air studio as they paint live before thousands of onlookers, complimented by the atmospheric musical layering of the Future Classic DJs. The works created during the three-day live event will later be auctioned by Anne Phillips, Senior Specialist & Valuer, Sydney at event partner Leonard Joel Auctioneers & Valuers, at an exclusive evening to conclude the month of Project Five.
All proceeds raised from the auction will further develop Information and Cultural Exchange’s (ICE) digital arts program. ICE Executive Director, John Kirkman encourages buyers to dig deep to purchase a unique piece of art from Project Five, saying “Project Five is an exciting and contemporary initiative that provides funds to support the artists of tomorrow. We can’t express enough gratitude to our Project Five partners and artists as ICE really relies on the money raised to continue delivering free and accessible art programs to Sydney’s West.”
Passionate and longstanding supporters of emerging and established contemporary street artists in Australia, aMBUSH Gallery has collaborated with Darling Quarter to present Project Five Volume Five, building on the success of Project Five’s existing legacy as it continues to explore, strengthen and redefine relationships between artists, their audience, and the wider community in which they live and work.
