Ronnie van Hout: The Floating Planes of Utrecht

‘The Floating Planes of Utrecht’ continues Ronnie van Hout’s exploration into self-referential portraiture and the connections between people, place and imagination. Six of the artist’s signature life-sized figures range from adolescents to men, each bearing the artist’s face and hands; coupled, they appear locked in a private struggle for reasons unknown, and five television screens fixed to sculptural stands broadcast Super 8 films.

The exhibition traverses personal and geographic narratives that span histories and abstracted futures, both real and imagined, to transport audiences into alternate realities.
