Salon des Refusés

The ‘Salon des Refusés’ – the much loved ‘alternative’ to the Art Gallery of New South Wales (AGNSW) Archibald prize for portraiture and Wynne prize for landscape painting – is making its inaugural debut in Adelaide for the first time since its inception at Sydney’s S.H. Ervin Gallery in 1992. Based on their quality, diversity, humour and experimentation, more than 50 entries, not selected for the official exhibition, have been drawn from behind the scenes at AGNSW to feature in the 2021 ‘Salon des Refusés’.
