Responding to Lorne Sculpture Biennale’s theme ‘Sense of Place’, in a playful yet critical look at Australian iconography, Stevens Vaughn transforms the Lorne Pier into a site of contemporary ritual with The Throne of Potentiality.
With the cyclical nature of sunrise and sunset, waves breaking the shore and returning to the ocean, every fishing rod’s catch and release, Vaughn invites us to metaphorically sit on his cast bronze, oversized, ornate throne, elevated, empowered, and free to explore endless possibilities.
