This exhibition showcases historical and affordable bark paintings by some of Australia’s foremost indigenous bark artists. Contemporary indigenous sculpture, spanning the Kimberley and Arnhem Land, stretching back to the late 1950s to now is also on exhibition. It offers a unique snapshot of bark painting that has not been seen in a commercial Melbourne-based gallery since James Davidson exhibited his collection in the 1960s.
Including the famous Marika family of bark painters, this is a rare opportunity to see many unique and captivating bark paintings in one exhibition.
