Tim Burns Survey: Against the Grain

Against the Grain at Tin Sheds Gallery is a survey exhibition of Tim Burns’ extensive career which spans over 40 years. Works on paper and archival material document his work from his early performative and conceptual installations, through to his pioneering work with super-8 of the late 70s. The exhibition also sees the launch of his new facebook project DIAtribe_interacTIV (supported by the Australia Council).

This survey comprises a collection of over 300 images and records of previous works, many of which have been lost or disappeared, as well as some of his surviving work including the screening of four films and part of a series of digi-prints-on-paper.

The exhibition has been shown in-part at Uplands in Melbourne, Fotofreo in Perth and at the AEAFin Adelaide. Unique in the way it evolves which each new showing, it is an historically important, and insightful, view of the work of one of Australia’s most significant and socially active underground artists.

Until April 14, 2012.
